
Port Townsend School of Woodworking. Last week, students in Steve Brown’s class carved a Tlingit style mask from blocks of green alder. Many of the students had taken his tool making class the week before and were able to use their newly made carving tools in the process! Here are some images captured on the final day of class.

This week, students in Steve Brown’s toolmaking class crafted carving tools typical of the Northwest coast carving tradition. Students forged and mounted the blades to create adzes and carving knives. Take a peek into the shop on the final day of class!

Last Friday, our team of students & instructors said farewell to the traditionally framed structures they had spent the past month working on as the Tiny Homes Building Class drew to a close. For those who want to follow the next steps in the process, Raphael Berrios and Amy Sleeper (builders/owners of one of the structures) have a great blog where they are documenting the experience of building their own “tiny timber frame” home. Check it out and follow along!

Local custom furniture maker Michael Hamilton was kind enough to open his Port Hadlock shop to us recently. He showed us a unique project in the works, shared his woodworking story and thoughts for the next generation of woodworkers.
